How to Organize the Perfect Closet 101
You have discovered the most outstanding apartment. Natural light is bellowing in through the windows, the kitchen are spacious, and you can't wait to take a bubble bath in the garden tub. As you start unpacking your stuff into the closet, it becomes evident you may have too many clothes. And shoes. Maybe your friend won the roomier closet, your spouse actually has more to hang up, or the space is more cramped than you remembered. Here are a few tricks to make the most out of your closet space.
Hangers > folded piles!
Hangers are generally accepted as a necessary evil. Purchasing hangers is a chore and not considered enjoyable. However, the types of hangers you use in your closet can increase or remove space. Using velvet hangers will add so much availability in your closet and they are affordable. Also, keep your hangers the same color. It's all too easy to become distracted by unorganized hangers.
Organize with a Purpose!
After you've kicked your old hangers to the curb, organize your pieces by color as well as sleeve length. We have all been there - combing through shirts to find your go-to sleeveless blue button up. Organizing your closet from light to dark is easy, but have fun with it! Don’t forget you’re the one who has to look at it every day.
Folding SOME of your Clothes is Still Okay!
Not every item needs to be on a hanger. Your sweaters, shirts, and jeans can all be folded into drawers or onto shelving. Folding items will keep the closet bulk down. The difference between hanging and folded clothes will ensure you see your closet more clearly.
If there is Space, Use it!
Utilize extra storage for the base of the closet. Keep the clothes you folded or accessories in the cubbies and organize shoes underneath. If there is still space, the top part of the organizer you should definitely use. There is no reason to leave empty space in a closet - only untapped possibilities.
+1 for the Road...
If you have space in your bedroom, a rolling rack is the ideal addition to any closet. Create a plan for your outfits either daily or weekly, use your most coveted pieces as adornment, or simply use the rolling rack as extra storage space.
